Por primera vez en la historia del país, un tribunal de Madagascar ha ordenado la castración quirúrgica de un hombre condenado por violar a una niña de seis años en el municipio de Imerintsiatosika. El caso se remonta a 2024 y marca la primera aplicación de una nueva ley que endurece las penas contra agresores sexuales de menores, según reportó la agencia Reuters.
El acusado fue hallado culpable no solo del abuso sexual, sino también del intento de asesinato de la menor. Como parte de la sentencia, el tribunal impuso la pena de prisión perpetua y la castración quirúrgica.
El fiscal general del Tribunal de Apelaciones, Didier Razafindralambo, afirmó que la medida busca «advertir a cualquiera que tenga intenciones maliciosas similares».
La legislación que permite este tipo de castigo fue aprobada en 2024 como respuesta a un aumento alarmante de delitos sexuales contra menores y a la creciente presión social por sanciones más severas.
Aunque Madagascar no es el único país en recurrir a la castración quirúrgica en casos extremos —hay antecedentes en la República Checa y Alemania—, organizaciones internacionales de derechos humanos han expresado su rechazo, calificándola de práctica cruel y contraria a la ética. En su lugar, recomiendan fortalecer estrategias integrales de prevención y protección infantil.
